Adult ADHD
A Three-Pronged Approach
Understanding ADHD in Adulthood
Many people grow up believing that ADHD only affects children, but the reality is that it continues into adulthood, sometimes going undiagnosed for years. I know this firsthand - I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and I understand both the challenges and the unique strengths that come with it.
ADHD is more than just difficulty focusing. It can affect nearly every aspect of life, include:
Time management & organization - Struggling with deadlines, appointments, and daily routines.
Emotional regulation - Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or experiencing mood swings.
Impulsivity & decision-making - Acting on impulse, struggling with procrastination, or feeling stuck in analysis paralysis.
Work & career challenges - Difficulty with consistency, burnout, and navigating workplace expectations.
Relationships & communication - Challenges with listening, remembering commitments, or managing conflict.
Self-esteem & shame - Internalizing negative messages about being “lazy” or “not living up to potential.”
How I Approach Therapy
ADHD is not a flaw - it’s a different neurotype, a different way of thinking and experiencing the world. My approach focuses on working with your brain, not against it, using strategies tailored to your strengths and challenges. I integrate:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative self-talk and develop practical coping skills.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you navigate frustration and self-criticism with self-compassion.
Executive Function Coaching to build skills in planning, prioritization, and productivity.
Mindfulness-Based Strategies to improve focus and emotional regulation.
Strengths-Based Approaches to reframe ADHD as a different (not defective) way of thinking and working.
Together, we can develop tools and strategies to create more structure, improve self-confidence, strengthen your relationships, and embrace ADHD as a part of your identity without letting it define you.
